New notes

Filed under: Celli — admin @ 8:32 pm

I get to start my fingerings now. What a pain in the butt! I’m learning two new notes, E and F# (ef sharp). They play on the D string in the first position. It’s so frustrating when you’re holding down your index finger and go to hold down your ring finger on the string, but end up also touching the A string. You get D-E-F#- squeeeeeeek! rather than a nice D-E-F#-A. After only thirty minutes of practice, I’m frustrated - I’ve not gotten it right even ONCE!

Of course, this is a new concept for me and I’ve only got two hours into it. ::sighs:: Patience might be someone’s virtue, but it’s not one that I have with myself.

I WILL learn this and I WILL get it right dangit!

Cellmoooo!

Filed under: Celli — admin @ 10:33 pm

Uncle T and Pa were out in the shop when I began my practice of CCGC, GGDG, DDAD, AA, AADA, DDGD, GGCG, CC. (Those are notes, just in case anyone wanted to know - the first four strings, without fingerings at all - just au-naturale notes of the strings.)

Anyway, there are a herd of cows that wander the fields behind the house. When I started practicing, Uncle T and Pa heard the cows start mooooing to my playing, as they moved closer in.

lol! Who would have known that cows were a fan of the cello?
