Rachel Barton, an accomplished violinist, set up her own foundation, Rachel Elizabet Barton Foundation (or REBF.org) to help students on stringed instruments! This foundation isn’t like normal ones, though. Her Foundation site says:
Young musicians are encouraged to apply to for a grant to help cover expenses such as:
They’ve a lovely stringed instrument loan program so students, who would not normally be able to afford playing a nice instrument, can play one and further their music career. The only thing, for myself, that I’m not happy about is that it’s for students between ages 10 and 30. D isn’t quite there and I’m over the top, at 34 - such an antique! lol.

I just found MusicTheory.net as I was looking for some help for this weekends’ piano lessons with J and D (I have two “students” now). Since it looks like a great reference tool -and you can download the whole site’s tools to your hard drive- I thought I’d share.
